Cities of Awe Lab

The Cities of Awe Lab reimagines cities as opportunities to nurture awe and a better quality of life for all.

The Cities of Awe Lab is a partnership between UC Berkeley, Gehl and The Gambrell Foundation to redesign our environments into communities built around nature, art, music and collective experiences. Awe isn’t just a nice-to-have. It quiets the ego, reduces anxiety and depression and increases our connection to others. Most importantly, it gets you out of your own head so you can experience something bigger. Our cities have become fragmented but if we infuse our cities with more moments of awe, they can become places for connection, purpose and meaning.
